After the launch of Apple ipad, war of Tablets has begun.Giant companies are now keen to introduce their tablets ASAP.Yesterday at Computex Microsoft introduces tablet OS concept.Microsoft is bringing Windows 7 to the tablet, a “compartmentalized version of Windows 7 that can be embedded at the hardware level.”

Support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 will end on July 13, 2010.This means that the users who are still using SP2 of Windows XP will no longer receive updates after this date.In order to receive updates after July 13, 2010 they will have to update to Windows XP SP3, a free update.But the Windows XP SP2 64-Bit Edition is supported until April 8, 2014.This is because there is no SP3 for Windows XP 64-Bit Edition.

Support for Windows Vista RTM (Release to Manufacture) will end on April 13, 2010.The users of Vista RTM will no longer receive updates after April 13, 2010 and they must upgrade to SP1 or SP2 to receive updates after April 13, 2010.

I never like writing an image on CD/DVD and then installing an Operating system from CD Drive.I hope you also don’t.Therefore installing windows or any other Operating from CD is just a boring and time taking job.Who wants these slow speed CD/DVDs? when we have GBs of USB Flash Drives.

If you want to install Windows 7 or Windows vista on a computer which doesn’t have CD/DVD ROM on it (e.g. Netbooks).In this case you only have one option available which is Installing Windows Vista or Windows 7 from a USB Drive.

So first of all you will have to create a bootable CD of Windows vista or Windows 7.This is neither a very easy job nor very difficult.You will have to go throught the small process which is mentioned below in this post and at the end you will have a bootable windows 7 or windows vista USB which will be capable of installing these OS.

The Process of creating bootable Windows Vista and Windows 7 USB has been broken down in to multiple steps for your ease.

First of all let me write down the requirements

- 4 GB USB Flash Drive

- Windows 7 (ISO or extracted files) or Windows Vista FIles

1) Download Windows 7 Beta

Download Latest version of Windows 7 or copy windows vista files from CD to your Local Drive (e.g. C:).

2) Format the USB Flash Drive

My computer–>Removable disk(F)–>Right click and choose Format the USB Flash Drive using the NTFS file system.

3) Extract the Windows 7 ISO file

4) Copy BootSect.exe

When you are done with extracting files from windows 7 iso.Open the extracted folder and open the “boot” folder, inside which we’ll find a file called “bootsect.exe” that we’ll need to use.Copy the file (CTRL+C) and then open up “Computer” or “My Computer” and double-click your C: drive.We’re going to paste (CTRL+V) that “bootsect.exe” file right into C: so we can easily access it in a moment.

5) Time to make the USB Flash Drive Bootable

Programs > Accessories and then right-click on Command Prompt and choose “Run as administrator.”

Inside cmd, type and enter the followings:

1. cd\
2. bootsect /nt60 g:

I have assumed the drive letter of your USB thumb drive is g:, so replace “g:” in the above phrase with whichever letter is assigned to your particular thumb drive. Hit enter and you should see:

The thumb drive auto-load when you boot up your computer.

6) Copy the Windows 7 files to the USB Flash drive

Copy all the files from the Windows 7 folder to the USB drive.

change the first boot device to your USB drive in the BIOS.

Reboot the computer and you will be greeted with colorful Windows 7 Installation Screen.Follow the on screen instructions to install Windows 7.

Microsoft announced in it’s Blog Today that they have finished working on Windows 7 and signed-off and declared build 7600 as RTM.They also thank to all the peoples who helped them to test Windows 7.

Microsoft announced in Blog that

“I am pleased to announce that Windows 7 has RTM’d.

Today after all the validation checks were met, we signed off and declared build 7600 as RTM. ”

Windows 7 Build 7600.16385.090713-1255 is official RTM build.ISV (Independent software vendor) and IHV (Independent hardware vendor) Partners will be able to download Windows 7 RTM from Microsoft Connect or MSDN on August 6th.Windows 7 will be available on 22 October in worldwide stores.

The website geeksmack.net confirmed that Windows 7 RTM is coming on 13th July.Neowin.net is also reporting that “sources close to the company, who wish to remain anonymous, have confirmed that Windows 7 is indeed set to RTM on July 13.” But still there is no official confirmation.
