According to microsoft, Internet Explorer 9 Beta downloads was more than 25 million. Internet Explorer 9 Beta has been downloaded about 1.5 times more than IE8 Beta over the same time period. Microsoft Estimates that Windows Live Messenger serve over 420 million video chats monthly, with the average video chat session lasting over 12 minutes, and nearly 10% of these longer than an hour. Microsoft customer feedback shows that the main reason why peoples buy webcams is to connect with friends and family. Microsoft hopes that with Video Kinect feature on Xbox LIVE, will make simple video calling soon even more commonplace.

Kinect’s new smart cameras do a lot more than an ordinary computer webcam, automatically panning, zooming, and physically tilting up and down to follow you around the room while you chat. And if another person walks into the viewing area, the camera automatically reframes the shot to fit everyone in. Video chatting from your PC or Mac with someone who’s using Video Kinect on Xbox LIVE gives you the same full-screen experience as when you chat with someone on a PC

At the time, Xbox Kinect is only available in the US, it will be released worldwide soon.

Internet Explorer 9 Beta launch event held in San Francisco, in which Microsoft announced much awaited version of Internet Explorer. In an event Microsoft announced that IE9 beta is available for download in 33 Languages.

Microsoft said in a Press Release that Windows Internet Explorer 9 Beta is all-around fast – faster than IE8, something that improves the user’s overall PC experience.

New Features in Windows Internet Explorer 9:
* Add-on Performance Advisor tells you if an add-on is slowing down your browser performance, and then allow you to disable or remove it.
* To speed up performance, Internet Explorer uses the power of your computer’s graphics processor, also known as a GPU.
* The Notification Bar that appears at the bottom of Internet Explorer gives you important status information when you need it.
*You can now search directly from the address bar.

Dean Hachamovitch, Microsoft’s corporate vice president for Internet Explorer said “The Web is about sites, and your browser should be, too, IE9 puts you and your site at the center of the browser experience.”

Hachamovitch also said “It’s not the browser that’s important to people, but the Facebooks and the Hotmails, the sites that deliver the content they really care about. Our job is to make sure that we’re doing a great job not only with how developers create those experiences, but changing how our customers experience them.”

Shashi Seth, Senior Vice President of Yahoo! Search Products wrote in Blog that “With this week’s milestone behind us, Yahoo! will continue to drive technology innovation in the search experience to bring more value to users and advertisers alike. We are focused on creating rich, immersive experiences that foster serendipitous discovery for people across the Yahoo! network.”

Satya Nadella, Senior Vice President of Microsoft’s Online Services Division, said that they are continuing to migrate to adCenter and “are optimistic about completing this phase later this fall” and hope that the work they are doing on the transition doesn’t affect advertisers over the holiday period.

* MS10-055 This bulletin resolves a privately reported vulnerability in Cinepak Codec, which is used by Windows Media Player to support the .avi audiovisual format. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted media file, or receives specially crafted streaming content from a Web site. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged-on user.

* MS10-056 This bulletin resolves four privately reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office. The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user opens or previews a specially crafted RTF e-mail message. An attacker who successfully exploited any of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the local user. Windows Vista and Windows 7 are less exploitable due to additional heap mitigation mechanisms in those operating systems.

* MS10-060 This bulletin resolves two privately reported vulnerabilities, both of which could allow remote code execution, in Microsoft .NET Framework and Microsoft Silverlight.
