HP has stopped the production of HP TouchPad and also the support of HP WebOS is no longer available and is trying to recover from millions of loss with its new tablet HP TouchPad by selling HP TouchPad in only $99.This is very cheap price for a tablet pc with 9.7 inch of screen and Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz dual-core APQ8060 processor.

After hearing the news that HP TouchPads are being sold for $99, peoples started to think that how they can enjoy this deal but the main problem was that HP has stopped the support for WebOS means that no other software will be available for this and if anything goes wrong with OS then HP won’t help

There’s a team named touch-driod has managed to installed Anroid 2.2.1 (Froyo) on HP TouchPad but still the functionality of Android on HP TouchPad is very limited and most of the ports (Wifi, Audio and Multi touch) needs to be enabled which will take some time. You can download Anroid 2.2.1 (Froyo) Dump for HP Touchpad from the following path

Rapid development on some linux distros (Specially Ubuntu) have made these distros easy to use for every one, more secure and faster in performance.I wasn’t a big fan of ubuntu or any other linux distro.I tried ubuntu 6,ubuntu 7,ubuntu 8 and ubuntu 9 but they couldn’t satisfy me.Before somedays i was occasionally visiting ubuntu website and i saw that a new version ubuntu 10.04 is coming very soon.I took a tour and i was really impressed with this new distro.

From that day i was waiting for ubuntu 10.04 to get stable, so i can install it and then after somedays the day came when canonical Ltd released stable build of ubuntu 10.04, i downloaded and install it to give it a try.Now I have been using ubuntu 10.04 for 2 week and i am very satisfied with its performance and features. Now i have almost switched to ubuntu 10.04 from windows vista.I want to share some reasons why you should switch to ubuntu 10.04 from windows.

1) More secure.

As all of us know that linux is more secure as compare to windows, number of viruses and trojans is also very less in linux as compare to windows.Default firewall of linux is more secure than the one in windows, not allowing any other user to write system files rather than only root is also another reason for linux to be secure.

2) More Faster in performance

Linux is also faster in performance as compare to windows, linux system requirement is low and it works smooth on slow pcs

3) Quick boot and shutdown

This is another very cool feature of linux specially ubuntu that it boots up and shuts down very quickly (in 4 -5 Seconds) where windows take arround 20 – 30 seconds and it can take more time if you have lots of applications installed in windows and you shouldn’t want your computer to take minutes to get started and shut down

4) Easy and quick application install

Most of the flavors of linux specially ubuntu has provided much easy ways to install application.Although installing applications isn’t too difficult in windows but linux seems to be more easy because most of the important softwares are already in list.what we need to do is to just run a command of apt-get install with application name to install and it will do the rest.

5) Stunning colors

I have used most of the linux flavors (ubuntu, fedora and cent OD) and have realized that the colors of linux is just stunning as compare to windows, as i have multiple operating systems installed including windows and linux.i firstly booted up windows and use a wallpaper then i switch to linux with the same wallpapers.I was amazed with linux colors. .Linux colors are just stunning than windows,Windows 7 does have good colors but still unable to beat linux.

6) Default Social networking client

Gwibber, A social networking client in ubuntu is just awesome, it provides us with the option to add all of the social networks accounts (e.g. facebook, twitter, digg and friendfeed) at a single place and then enjoy,Whereas in windows we have to search for the social networking client or we need to use browser to access social network client.

7) All in One Chat application

Ubuntu has an All in one chat application install by defaut, giving us convienience to add all the chat accounts (MSN,Yahoo,Gmail and even facebook) in one application and then we can enjoy chat, file sharing and other cool features,If we have a look on windows then we have to download all the messengers seperately, there are some all in one chat applications available for windows but they aren’t that much efficient as application in ubuntu is.

Today some slides from microsoft has stunned lots of Linux and windows users. As in these Slides microsoft directly targets Linux and trying to prove that Windows 7 is better than linux.Well this is an old and well known dispute between Linux and Windows users that which OS is better.

First of all i am gonna list down some points mentioned in the slides from microsoft and then i will post all the pictures of presentation from Microsoft. In this presentation microsoft has compared windows 7 with Linux.

Microsoft is trying to prove that Windows 7 is better than Linux by giving the following reasons.

Minimal Software Support

Microsoft says that most of the softwares are compatible with windows 7 and easy to install in just one click. On the other hand Linux has minimal software support(e.g. iTunes and Adobe Photoshop cannot be run on linux)

Easy User Interface

We all know that windows has much easier interface as compare to linux and microsoft is also saying the same thing that users donot have to relearn anything.

Minimal Hardware Support

In the digital life of today we use lots of gadgets everyday(Camera,iPod,Cell Phone) and in windows 7 we have plug an play support for about thousands of hardware which makes our life easy. But in linux we have Minimal Hardware Support.

Support for Gaming

According to microsoft windows 7 has great gaming support which linux doesn’t have.Microsoft has given the example of World of Warcraft but i think there are also lots of other games which doesn’t support linux. But some of them can be played using Wine.

Before somedays i wrote a post 12 Reasons why Windows is better than Linux for Non-techie .This post recieved lots of the criticism from Linux users. In this post i also mentioned the same points which microsoft has mentioned in their slide.

As all of us know that a netbook has very limited resources therefore running windows vista or windows 7 on a netbook is not really a great idea.Although Windows XP can run much better in netbook but if we compare the linux Distributions for Netbooks available (e.g. Ubuntu netbook remix) with windows xp.Then Linux surely beats windows.

Before installing any linux flavor on your netbook you should do some research on the linux distros available.Check out there system requirements as well as their features too. After searching for some hours i have compilled a list of some linux distributions which are customized for netbook and give awesome performance with limited netbook resources.

1) Ubuntu Netbook Remix

Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix, the most feature-rich open platform for netbooks, debuts as a simple download for most popular netbook models .Ubuntu Netbook Remix is optimised to run on a new category of affordable Internet-centric devices called netbooks.
There is a real bad news for Linux lovers who keep on denying the fact that windows is much better and easy to use OS for a non techie user or for a desktop computer. There is an another survey report which shows that Linux is still only 1% on desktop computer.Following is the summary of survey.

Windows is on top with 87.90 %

Mac on 9.73%

Linux 1.02%

Before some days i wrote a post 12 reasons why windows is better than linux for non-techies and most of the Linux lovers criticized the post and kept on saying that Linux is easy to use OS as compare to Windows. In the light of comments posted by users we can say that Linux is easy to use but most of the surveys show us that Linux still needs to go a long way in order to compete with windows.

In this post i have already mentioned above that linux is still only 1% on desktop computer. So i think linux lovers should accept this fact that windows is better and easy to use OS as compare to linux.
