New Chrome extension allows to block sites from Google’s web search results

February 16th, 2011 | by admin |

Google released a new Chrome extension named, Personal Blocklist Extension. This extension allows users to block unwanted sites from Google web search results. Google released this extension to detect content farms, which are sites with shallow or low-quality content and to make web search better and improved. If installed, the extension also sends blocked site information to Google, and Google will study the resulting feedback and explore using it as a potential ranking signal for search results.

When you add a site in the list of blocked sites, you won’t see results from that domain again in your Google search results. You can always revoke a blocked site at the bottom of the search results. Editing the list of Block sites is easy and simple. You can edit list of blocked sites by clicking on the extension’s icon in the top right of the Chrome window.

Click Here to download Personal Blocklist Extension. Currently, the extension is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. Google hopes that this extension will improves users search experience.
