Is Twitter really waste of time for normal users

Today everyone is on twitter, from a student to a professional everyone uses twitter and also all the popular companies like Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo, Google etc use twitter.Please don’t assume here that i m an anti-twitter person.At bablotech we also have an account on twitter,but the main question is that for whom twitter is for? is twitter for students or is it for professionals and businessmen?
Twitter is being counted among best social networking and micro-blogging service.But is it a complete social networking site? The answer is off course not, because a complete social networking site gives you more options instead of giving you an option to tell others what are you doing?
The Users on twitter have hundreds or thousands of followers.But what is the good of having thousands of followers? Do they know all of their followers? What will they share with thousands of followers if they don’t know them? Why to tell unknown peoples what we are doing?
“What are you doing?” when you start writing the answer of this question twitter gives you a punch by limiting the length to only 140 words and if you use any link in you answer twitter will replace all your links with URL Shorten Services like bit.ly etc.
Another reason why I don’t like twitter is its over capacity (Fail Whale) error which comes frequently. Twitter has got millions of users but still they haven’t solved this problem and we keep on getting this error. “Too many tweets! Please wait a moment and try again”Are they out of the resources to add some more servers in their datacenters.
Twitter has also become a well known source for spamming nowadays as most of the peoples do too much spamming by keep on posting only useless URLs,(e.g. How to get 10,000 followers a day and make money) Auto reply on following and direct messages which is too bothering.
Twitter is very much beneficial for companies,celebrities and Bloggers as they share important information with others through twitter. But when we talk about the normal user who uses twitter for just letting others know that what is he doing(Only in 140 Characters) or share a URL then in this manner twitter is really a waste of time.Because we can let others know,what we are doing,sharing URL,Video,Pictures and much more with other social networking sites (e.g. Facebook) So why a normal user need to tweet.
