If you are a webmaster you must use a web statistics service to monitor all of the traffic,from where the traffic is coming what are the most popular pages,which sites are referring to your website.Currently in my opinion google analytics is the most popular and accurate web statistics service.Although statcounter is also very well known free website statistics provider but as it has limit of 500 entries it is not quite enough if your website receives good amount of traffic.
Most of the website statistics services have lots of common components like visits,page views,referring sites,content drill down,visitor’s location.In all of these web statistics component there are some components which you should check as they can provide valuable information about your website.

As all of us know unique visitors really matters and in fact as much unique visitors you have as much popular will your site be.If tons of unique visitors come to your site daily they can also link back your website,they can tell their friends about your site and you can also estimate the revenue from unique visitors.
