How to enable/disable hibernation in windows vista.

Hibernation is one of the most useful feature of windows which allows you to shutdown your computer while having all the working windows opened and when you will start the computer again it will restore the same state as it was before shutting down.Hibernation saves lots of your time and efforts.

By default hibernation is not enabled in windows vista but you can easily enable hibernation with one command.

To enable hibernation in windows vista.

  • Go to start menu
  • In the run Box type  cmd and don’t press enter yet you will be shown with cmd on start menu look at the picture below

  • Right click on cmd and select Run as administrator.Command promp will be opened with administrative privileges.
  • Now in the command promp you need to issue this command without quotes ” powercfg -h on “
  • This will enable hibernation in windows vista.
  • As the hibernation is enabled you can now the hibernation option

To Disable hibernation just issue the following command.

powercfg -h off
