How to prevent running a program in system startup

October 16th, 2008 | by admin |

By default in windows there is a folder in start menu named Startup if you put any software in this folder it runs that program in the system startup. Many softwares which are required to be started on startup put a shortcut in startup folder. This is really a useful folder but it was really bothering for me one time when i installed a software and after some days the software gets corrupted now what was happening whenever i was booting windows and windows starts that softwares runs from startup folder and due to corruption of softwares it was restarting my PC and because the PC was restarting i couldn’t able to delete that program from startup folder.

Then after doing some searching at google i found a cool tip to prevent running all the programs in startup folder. The is quite simple. What you need to do is after entering you username and password as the windows starts up just Press and hold the shift Key.This prevents to run any program which resides in the startup folder.

I have tested this tip in windows XP and i m not sure that will it work in windows vista or not.
